The SSEC-RAICES Geriatric Outpatient Mental Health Clinic is licensed by the NYS Office of Mental Health.  The clinic addresses the unmet behavioral health needs of Latino and minority older adults.  Services are provided in a culturally competent modality.

Grandparent Support Groups - Group Counseling - Health Education - Individual Counseling - Information and Referral - Medication Management

In keeping with the spirit of the mission of the SSEC-RAÍCES, the goals of the clinic treatment program are to, in a culturally competent and linguistic appropriate setting (i) provide treatment designed to reduce symptoms; (ii) improve patient functioning; (iii) provide on-going support; and (iv) reduce hospitalizations.

The general objectives are the following:

  1. To enable the client to recognize, manage and reduce symptoms;

  2. Increase ability to carry out activities of daily living;

  3. Improvement or maintenance of social or occupational role functioning;

  4. Assist with rehabilitation and support to improve functioning in the community;

  5. Promote clients active participation in treatment plan and goal setting;

  6. To train clients in the development of supportive skills to cope with the demands of personal care and community living;

  7. To promote continuity of services by assisting the linkage of the client to the service delivery continuum and monitor the provision of services;

Raíces Casa BienEstar is staffed by professionals in the field of Psychiatry and Social Work, as defined in §587.4 of the New York State Mental Hygiene Codes, Rules and Regulations.  Raíces Casa BienEstar is staffed by a Clinical Director, four and one half (4.5) full time Social Workers and two (2) part time psychiatrists.  All Social Workers possess a Masters Degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited university/college.
